Found the 2nd case of tsunami events caused by “trapdoor” faulting at submarine calderas!
This study suggests that peculiar tsunamis from Curtis and Cheeseman Island, north of New Zealand, were generated by submarine “trapdoor faulting” mechanism in a submerged caldera near the islands. This was inferred from our combined tsunami and seismic analyses for the 2017 earthquake.
